Do breast implants have an expiration date?

Patients often ask if they will need to have their breast implants replaced in the future. Although the manufacturers state breast implants should not be considered a lifetime device, they do provide free lifetime replacement of the implants. Unless a patient has problems with her breast implants such as scar formation or deflation, there is no indication that they should be replaced.
