What are the advantages of silicone gel implants?
Silicone gel breast implants were recently approved by the FDA for general use for cosmetic breast augmentation. Gel implants have been extensively studied for over 10 years before they were released. Gel breast implants have a softer more natural feel than saline breast implants. In patients with very thin skin they provide a better cosmetic result. They are more expensive and may require follow-up with MRI scans to assess implant integrity.
