Is there scarring with liposuction?

There are very few scars produced with liposuction surgery. The usual incisions will vary from about a quarter to three quarters of an inch depending upon the technique used. Ultrasonic liposuction may require a slightly larger incision but these can be located in skin creases and swim suit lines so as to hardly be noticeable.

Some patients may present with or develop contour deformities of the skin surface after liposuction. This is most commonly due to poor elasticity but can also be due to irregular fat removal. Cellulite is very difficult to correct with liposuction but may be improved with fat injections. For more information and before and after photos.

What to Expect from the Breast Augmentation Procedure with Dr. Linderman

For over 25 years, board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Richard Linderman has been helping patients in their desire for aesthetic enhancement. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Linderman has the education to perform virtually all cosmetic surgical procedures in a way that has left over 9000 patients happy with their results. He will also be able to answer any of your questions and put you at ease. Dr. Linderman understands you many feel anxious, but his first concern is your comfort and your cosmetic desires.

When visiting Dr. Linderman for a breast augmentation procedure, the first step will be the initial consultation. It is here where most of your questions will be answered, and the procedure discussed in detail. You will be educated as much as possible on what you will be undergoing. What makes Dr. Linderman different than other breast augmentation doctors is his unique custom sizing system. This is an assessment done to determine the correct implant size for you.

Dr. Linderman believes in using the most advanced techniques in the field of cosmetic surgery so that your surgery, placement of the implant, and post-surgical recovery go as well as humanly possible. One technique Dr. Linderman uses is the soft touch technique, which begins as soon as possible following surgery. This series of exercises and stretches minimizes much of the discomfort you would otherwise feel, and gets you back to your normal routine in a short amount of time.

If you are interested in the breast augmentation procedure, please contact Dr. Linderman. He will be able to further explain why his experience, education and technique are areas that can you can be proud of, too.

How is breast implant size determined?

This is a question that is asked by almost all of my patients desiring breast augmentation. Patients usually present me with a size request that they desire and it is often a C cup. The ultimate size cannot be guaranteed but it is unusual not to be able to meet the patient's expectations. By using a custom sizing system and employing sizing breast implants when performing breast augmentation surgery, the patient's goal can generally be achieved. Custom sizing involves taking several measurements including breast width, height of nipple from the underlying fold and assessment of the overall skin elasticity. When placing a breast implant sizer in surgery I will usually place the larger implant if possible, as most patients tend to prefer the larger breast implant.

What is the recovery period after mini tummy tuck surgery?

Following a mini tummy tuck, I advised my patients to take one week off from work and to limit physical activities. Within two weeks patients can get in a swimming pool and can resume aerobic workout in two to three weeks. Heavy lifting and abdominal exercises are limited until four weeks. The sutures are dissolvable and drains are removed in 3-5 days in most cases. Liposuction is usually performed of the abdomen and may cause some minor bruising. What is a Belt Lipectomy?

Frequently patients presenting for tummy tuck surgery for removal of excess skin of the abdomen will have marked skin redundancy involving the hips and back. This is often seen in patients after severe weight loss or bariatric surgery. When there is significant fat present and good skin elasticity, liposuction may be combined with the tummy tuck. However in most patients of this type a belt lipectomy is often indicated for an optimal result. In this procedure the tummy tuck excision is extended completely around the back as a belt. Recovery is very similar to a tummy tuck alone.

Haydan's Story

Well, on May 11, 2005 I had bariatric surgery (gastric bypass). At that time I weighed about 279 lbs and wore a size 26W. I had no major health issues.....yet! I had always struggled with my weight ever since I was a young child. After having two children it was becoming even more difficult for me to maintain my weight and stay healthy. I was finally told by an internist that my hormone levels, while within the normal ranges, were off balance for me. He suggested the gastric bypass surgery to "shock" my system back to normal. To satisfy my insurance, I went through an 18 month, doctor supervised weight loss program. I didn't lose a thing! I finally had the surgery and it was a success! Although I was a "slow loser" that first year, only losing 92 lbs, I was still getting healthier by the day. By the time I came to see Dr. Linderman in November of 2007, I had lost over 125 lbs and had been maintaining my weight at around 150 lbs for a year. I was happy to be in a size 12!!! After my initial consultation, Dr. Linderman and I decided the best course of action to remove my excess skin and firm up my mid-section would be the belt lipectomy. Just two weeks prior to my surgery date, I also opted for a breast augmentation. Even while pregnant and weighing close to 300 lbs, I had never gotten out of an A-cup bra. I felt that if I were going to go this far to help improve my body, I might as well make it proportional! On January 29, 2008, I had the belt lipectomy and breast augmentation. The surgery went extremely well and was a complete success!! I now weigh 130 lbs, wear a size 3-4 and have beautiful C-cup breasts! Just 6 months post-op the scars are already faded around my mid-section and practically invisible on my breasts. I would do it all over again without hesitation. For the first time in my life, I feel like ME!! I am so thankful to Dr. Linderman as well as his staff. Their professionalism, care and sincere concern are beyond compare.

Stephanie's Story

After making the decision to have a breast augmentation, I began looking for a plastic surgeon. I spent a lot of time asking around for some suggestions and looking online. I came across Dr. Linderman at www.awholenewme.com and I was so impressed by all of the before and after photos that I just had to set up a consultation with him. I called the next morning and the office staff was so kind and informative. They told me all about Dr. Linderman and how many breast augmentations he has performed (over 9,000), and they even told me the cost of the procedure upfront!!! After discussing my schedule with the staff, they were able to get me in very quickly for a consultation.

I arrived at the office for my consultation and was greeted by the friendly staff. They immediately brought me back for my consultation and explained every step to me along the way. Then I met Dr. Linderman. We sat down and discussed my goals - size, where I wanted my incision, type of implant, etc. and then had my exam. The whole process was very comfortable and informative. Dr. Linderman made me feel completely prepared and reassured about having a breast augmentation. I knew he was the one I wanted to do my surgery and I scheduled it immediately.

I had my surgery on a Wednesday morning and after talking to Dr. Linderman that morning, I didn't even feel nervous. After my procedure I felt fantastic! I wasn't even in any pain. I went home and took a short nap and was able to sit at the table for dinner that night. I thought it must be too good to be true and the next morning the pain would start but I felt great the next day! I was able to blow-dry my hair the morning after and I was up and moving around the house. I started classes the following Monday (that's right just 5 days later).

My results are UNBELIEVABLE!!! Dr. Linderman did an amazing job...I never thought I could have such a good result! I had very little pain, my incisions are healing beautifully, and my breasts just keep looking better every day. I am so grateful to Dr. Linderman and his wonderful staff for making this such a good experience. I recommend Dr. Linderman to everyone I know. I hope this can help anyone searching for a plastic surgeon, I feel so lucky to have found such a good one!

30 Years of Practice

I am now entering into my 30th year of practice in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery. Many changes have occurred in my specialty and my personal life over the years. I am going to celebrate my 30th anniversary with my lovely wife. We have two wonderful children who have left the nest and flown away. My daughter, Sara, has an MBA and works as a marketing director for Chlorox and presently markets Hidden Valley Ranch Salad Dressing. She lives in San Francisco. My son, Greg, 24, is an Ensign in the Navy and currently training to become a naval aviator. He is in Corpus Christi, Texas and hopes to fly F-18. We have a wonderful golden retriever, Jack, who keeps us company at home. We have been very fortunate.
