Can I tan after breast augmentation surgery?

Following breast augmentation, I ask my patients not to expose their breasts to the sun of in a tanning booth for about four weeks. The breasts may be covered with a towel. Frequently patients may have small areas of decreased sensation which is temporary and sun exposure prevents sunburn.

Can I go swimming right after breast augmentation surgery?

Dr. Linderman makes every effort to help my patients return to everyday activities including swimming as soon as possible. Sutures are absorbable and do not require removal. Dr. Linderman prefers his patients refrain from swimming in a pool for two weeks following breast augmentation surgery to allow the incisions to completely heal and prevent infection.

What is a Benelli Breast Lift?

A Benelli Breast is performed by removing a ring of skin around the areola or pigmented area of the nipple. The circular incision is then closed by placement of a purse string suture. Often a breast augmentation is performed at the same time. This type of breast lift is indicated for patients needing a small lift with ptosis not exceeding two centimeters. Other names for this operation are concentric and donut mastopexy.

What should I do if my breast are uneven after breast augmentation surgery?

Patients may sometimes have minor breast differences following breast augmentation surgery. Sometimes these are due to asymmetries presents preoperatively and may persist. During your initial consultation, Dr. Linderman will examine your breasts to identify and discuss differences in breast size, shape and chest wall irregularities. Frequently differences may improve with time as the implants soften and settle in the first couple of months.
