Breast Augmenation Testimonial

Dr. Linderman and his supportive staff made my decision of having breast augmentation confident in choosing him as my surgeon. They answered all my questions regarding breast augmentation which made me even more at ease. His approach of recovery after surgery made little to no downtime after my surgery. I am a single mother to a five year old and I was up the following day doing activities with my son. My sister plans to have breast augmentation in the future and being a protective older sister I would not recommend less than the best for her. Dr. Linderman did such a wonderful job. I advised her to choose him as her surgeon. Thank you Dr. Linderman and your supportive, caring staff. E.B.

Liposuction for Post Bariatric Surgery Patients

Liposuction is not a procedure to lose weight but can be an effective adjunct for body contouring procedures in post bariatric surgery patients. Good candidates for surgery have achieved a stable ideal body weight and should have a Body Mass Index of less than 35. Liposuction allows the reduction and thinning of redundant tissue to allow better excision and contouring. With thinner and more pliable tissue, tension is reduced and wound healing problems are decreased.

What is rectus diastasis?

Rectus diastasis is a widening of the space between the two large vertically oriented rectus muscles of the abdominal wall. This occurs to some degree in all women after pregnancy. It is not a true hernia but can result in a bulge or protrusion of the abdomen. In most tummy tuck procedures, the widening is corrected by suturing the rectus muscles back together. This protrusion may be confined to the lower abdomen, which may be a good indication for a mini tummy tuck. Sit-ups and other exercises cannot correct this condition.

Implants come in both round and anatomic or more oval shapes. A majority of my patients achieve excellent results with round implants. Over time and with the effects of gravity most implants assume a tear drop shape if capsular contracture is avoided. Anatomic implants are either textured or silicone gel type implants. It is my feeling that textured implants have a higher incidence of leakage. Newer anatomic gel implants may be indicated in certain patients with a narrow chest wall and long torso.

Does the risk for Breast Cancer increase with Breast Augmentation Surgery?

Several studies comparing the incidence of breast cancer in women with breast implants against non-implanted women and there was no statistical difference in the two groups. Women having breast augmentation DO NOT have a higher risk of breast cancer.

What is capsular contracture after breast augmentation?

Capsular contracture is the development of inelastic scar forming around breast implants. This scarring can produce hardening of the implants, displacement and in some cases pain. Surgery may sometimes be necessary to remove or release this scarring. Implant placement of the breast implants underneath the chest wall muscle does decrease the overall incidence of capsular contracture.

What is circumferential body contouring?

A well-proportioned fit figure is the goal for many people today. However successful improvement in problem areas can be difficult despite strict diets and exercise. For those seeking a better figure, circumferential body contouring may be the answer.

Circumferential body contouring is an innovative cosmetic surgery technique which combines traditional body contouring methods such as liposuction and a skin removal technique such as abdominoplasty to maximize results by treating a body area such as the trunk circumferentially to achieve a maximal reduction. This procedure pioneered by Dr. Richard Linderman of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of Indiana can produced dramatic results by improving both contour and skin
