Breast Augmentation - Twenty Four Hour Quick Recovery
By using a soft touch technique as described by Dr. John Tebbetts, tissue stretching is minimized, and trauma to the ribs and muscles is eliminated. The creation of the pocket for the breast implant is performed with bloodless electrocautery dissection with no bruising and minimal discomfort. Immediately following surgery, patients are instructed to follow the 24 hours quick recovery routine. The routine begins with a series of exercises and muscle stretching in the recovery room and continues in the immediate post operative period. Most spasm and pain caused by the chest wall muscle is greatly decreased after completing these exercises. Patients are then instructed to return home, have a light snack and shower. It is not uncommon for patients to resume their normal social activities the next day. Read Stephanie’s story.
Inverted Nipples
A common problem that plastic surgery patients frequently request correction of is inversion or one or both nipples of the breast. This condition is more common on one side and may be congenital or acquired. Nipple inversion may make breast-feeding difficult or preclude it entirely. Nipple inversion is caused by shortening of the underlying ducts or lack of development of fibrous tissue beneath the nipple. In many cases the nipple can be manually everted but then inverts when traction is released.
