Eyelid Surgery Procedure
A blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, removes excess skin and layers of fat from the upper eyelids that cause a tired, fatigued look, which can make you appear older and create problems with makeup application. This procedure can also minimize bags and tighten the skin under the eyes. The result is a more youthful, alert expression.
Blepharoplasty may be performed under either local or general anesthesia, but some patients may find general anesthesia is recommended. After blepharoplasty, some swelling and bruising is expected, but discomfort is usually mild and easily controlled by pain medication. Most normal, non-strenuous activities can be resumed within a week following surgery.
