1. What is a short scar or a mini-facelift?

This innovative procedure continues Dr. Linderman’s trend towards a less invasive procedure offering maximal results. In a short scar facelift, scars behind the ears are avoided with less surgical dissection. Bruising, recovery time and scarring are reduced.

2. What is the post-op course following a facelift?

Bruising may last up to 10 days but may be reduced with a short scar facelift. There is minimal pain and discomfort and most patients can resume everyday activities in 2 weeks.

3. How long does a facelift last?

Although the aging process continues, a facelift can correct sagging facial skin and muscles, remove excess fat and restore a more youthful rested appearance. The rejuvenation effects generally last 5 to 7 years.

4. How long does a facelift take to perform?

A standard facelift with muscle tightening and facial liposuction may take up to 3 hours. Frequently, additional procedures such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and brow lift surgery may be performed at the same time.

5. Are there any medications I should not take before facelift surgery?

In preparation for your facelift, Dr. Linderman will have you refrain from taking aspirin and all aspirin related products for two weeks before and two weeks after surgery. This will help decrease the risk of bleeding which can be caused by these products.

Also, intake of Vitamin E should be limited to only what is found in a multi-vitamin, no large volume doses two weeks before or two weeks after facial surgery because this can also cause a bleeding tendency.

6. Are herbal remedies safe to continue taking before facelift surgery?

Often overlooked are the negative effects herbal remedies may have upon anesthesia, drug interaction, bleeding tendency, or the body’s ability to heal after facelift surgery. Simply because a product carries a label saying it is “natural” does not mean it is necessarily safe when interacting with other drugs.
