Liposuction
Liposuction is used to remove localized fatty deposits. Areas which benefit from liposuction include the face and neck, hips and thighs, abdomen, “love handles,” arms, knees, lower legs, back, breast, and chest.
Liposuction is a body sculpting technique, a method to shape the body and face by removing or reducing localized fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. It is not a weight loss method, as only limited amounts of fat are removed.
Dr. Linderman uses tumescent liposuction and ultrasonic liposuction. These innovative techniques produce the best results with a shorter recovery period.
Every person is different, and, as a result, every liposuction procedure is different. Your results and recovery time are affected by your age, the amount of fat removed, your skin elasticity and its ability to respond to the removal of underlying fat. If the area treated is small, you may be up and about shortly after surgery. Larger treatment areas may require a day of bed rest. All liposuction requires a temporary refrain from strenuous activities, and a gradual return to full activity. A compressive garment is worn to minimize bruising and swelling and may be worn for up to 4 weeks postoperatively. Dr. Linderman will also give you more detailed postoperative instructions on how to shorten your recovery and improve your results.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Abdominoplasty or Tummy tuck may be the right choice for men and women who, despite following a healthy diet and exercise plan, still have excess fat or sagging skin in the abdominal area. Designed to firm and flatten the tummy, this procedure removes excess fat and skin, but may also involve tightening of the abdominal wall muscles. Most patients find their new silhouette makes them look and feel better.
Dr. Linderman performs a high lateral tension abdominoplasty which is a more innovative type of tummy tuck to lessen scarring in the pubic area while tightening the thigh skin and permitting aggressive liposuction during surgery to further define the waist and if indicated perform circumferential body contouring.
There are two types of abdominoplasty or tummy tuck.
- Mini-abdominoplasty tightens the skin and muscles of the lower abdomen below the umbilicus.
- Standard Abdominoplasty tightens all of the abdominal wall skin and muscles. The umbilicus may be relocated.
Abdominoplasty frequently requires an overnight stay. Patients can usually return to work in 2 weeks

Belt Lipectomy
Belt lipectomy or extended abdominoplasty is a procedure that removes excess skin in a belt like manner completely around the waist. It combines the benefits of a tummy tuck with removal of excess fat and skin from the hip area. The scar can be concealed in the bathing suit line and a dramatic improvement in your overall figure can be produced. If you have exess skin which extends completely around your waist, belt lipectomy is a surgical procedure you should investigate. Dr Linderman regularly performs this technique on his patients with a wonderful improvement in overall body contour. Thigh Lift Surgery
If you have a history of weight loss or have excess or loose skin on the inner or outer thigh, then thigh lift surgery may be a good surgical option. In this type of body contooring surgery skin and fat are released from the underlying muscles, pulled up and then removed. Scars are located within your swim suit lines and recovery is similar to tummy tuck surgery. Outer and inner thigh lift surgery are particularly effective if you have area of excess skin with poor elasticity that will not respond to liposuction alone.
Arm lift or Brachioplasty
Brachioplasty or arm lift surgery is a type of body contouring procedure performed to improve the shape and or reduce the size of the upper arms. Depending on the distribution of fat, skin quality, and redundancy of skin, liposuction may be indicated. Patients who have good skin elasticity and tone with no history of weight loss are excellent candidates for liposuction.
With the large number of bariatric procedures being performed, a significant percentage of new patients present with weight loss producing excess sagging skin of the arms or so call “bat wings.” These patients can obtain wonderful results with excision of the excess skin. Scars may vary from a long scar down the inner aspect of the upper arms to a shorter T shaped scar running from the axilla. A small number of patients may benefit from liposuction combined with a skin excision with the scar hidden in the armpit.
In the past the long scar produced with skin excision reduced the number of patients requesting brachioplasty, however with the large patient population undergoing gastric bypass, more and more patients are requesting brachioplasty with excision of excess skin. This procedure takes around two to two and half hours and may be done on an outpatient basis. Sutures are dissolvable and patients may require compressive garments to reduced swelling for three weeks. Scar maturation is a slow process, which may take up to eighteen months for scars to soften and lighten. Body Lift
A body lift is very similar to a belt lipectomy and uses the same surgical incision. It is actually a tummy tuck combined with an outer thigh lift. Liposuction in usually performed on the outer thighs in addition to lifting and excising skin from the thighs and abdomen. Tightening of loose skin is extended down the outer thigh.
