The following suggestions will help you recover as quickly as possible and will minimize your chances of complications following body contouring procedures:

Have the right mental attitude regarding expectations of surgery. Your goal should be improvement, not perfection.

Take care of all errands and chores prior to going in for surgery as after surgery, you are not to perform any household chores.

Make sure you have all prescriptions filled and ready.

Have plenty of loose fitting, comfortable clothing clean and ready to wear.

Check with abdominoplasty surgeon Dr. Linderman regarding taking vitamins or other nutritional supplements or OTC pain meds.

Do not submerge incisions in water. Dr. Linderman may say it's ok to shower but sitting in a tub is not recommended.

Be aware of signs of infection. Dr. Linderman will discuss these with you. At the first sign of infection, contact the office immediately.

You may want to take photos of your procedure area so you can note the progress of your recovery. Small improvements are sometimes difficult to notice with the naked eye.

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and juice. Avoid alcohol and caffeine while recovering.

Follow all of Dr. Linderman's recovery directions very carefully.
