Restylane is a safe, natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds. It is non allergenic and produced from non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. . Results typically last for 6 months or longer.
Restylane is a partially cross-linked hyaluronic acid derivative obtained from a bacterial fermentation process that forms a viscoelastic, transparent gel. Because it is a non–animal-derived compound, there is minimal risk of allergic reactions or disease transmission. Pre injection skin testing is not indicated.
As with other bioengineered hyaluronic acid derivatives, Restylane binds with water to increase volume and provide stability with cross linking to allow a long lasting effect of six months or longer. This stability is provided by the high degree of cross-linking, which allows for its longefr-lasting effect. Restylane is used for mid- to deep dermal injection for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds/nasolabial folds. Besides correction of facial wrinkles, it is highly effective for lip augmentation.
Perlane is chemically almost identical to Restylane but differs in hyaluronice acid sphere size and is used for deeper injection and more volume replacement.
