There are several methods for determining the right size implant. Different plastic surgeons use different techniques. Dr. Richard Linderman uses a custom system that takes several factors into account, including your height, weight, activity levels, lifestyle, and skin elasticity.
One factor to bear in mind when discussing your desired post-operative size is that breast implants are not measured according to cup size. There is no single implant size that will provide a cup size increase in every woman. Implants are measured according to the amount of filler they hold, such as saline. How much a particular size implant will increase your breast size depends a great deal on your body type, breast shape, and skin elasticity, and thus can vary greatly from woman to woman.
Consultation
During your initial boob job consultation, you and Dr. Linderman will be discuss in detail exactly what results you wish to see from your breast augmentation surgery. The more open you can be with him, the more likely you are to be happy with your surgery. Dr. Linderman will provide before and after pictures, which you can use to help demonstrate how you'd like your breasts to look.
Realistic expectations are an important factor in satisfactory results from cosmetic surgery, so be sure to ask any and all questions you may have, and provide as much information as you can about what you expect from the procedure. The most common cause for repeat breast surgery is dissatisfaction with the resulting size from the initial procedure. The more you communicate with Dr. Linderman the first time around, the less likely you are to require a repeat surgery.
