Tummy Tuck Procedure

Abdominoplasty may be indicated in bariatric patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery and have achieved their weight goal but have significant skin excess. Abdominoplasty is also beneficial to women who have redundant abdominal skin following pregnancy. Abdominal stretch marks can also be improved or entirely removed.

Tummy Tuck Types
Dr. Linderman performs a high lateral tension abdominoplasty which is a more innovative type of tummy tuck to lessen scarring in the pubic area. It also tightens the thigh skin, permits aggressive liposuction during surgery, and allows for circumferential body contouring.
There are two types of abdominoplasty or tummy tuck.
Mini-abdominoplasty tightens the skin and muscles of the lower abdomen below the umbilicus.
Standard Abdominoplasty tightens all of the abdominal wall skin and muscles. The umbilicus may be relocated.
Dr. Linderman recommends the mini-abdominoplasty if the area of concern is located below the umbilicus. This procedure is less extensive than a full abdominoplasty with a smaller incision and a quicker recovery time of one week. It is usually preformed as an outpatient procedure and may be combined with other procedures such as liposuction.
A full abdominoplasty is indicated in those patients with generalized skin excess and or muscle laxity involving the entire abdomen. Recovery time is longer, and patients are off work up to 2 weeks. An overnight stay is usually required. Active aerobic exercise can generally be resumed in 4-6 weeks.
